REVIEW OF CBS’s KID NATION-
After months of of build up and a non-stop advertising campaign, millions of Americans tuned in to watch Kid Nation Wednesday evening on CBS. The constant commercial bombardment and an interesting idea sparked my interest and I decided to tune in. After watching the first episode I pledge never to return.

I knew the show was too good to be true. I’ve often pondered what children would do without outside influence, and this is what the show’s premise supposedly was. No rules. Kids choose. Let’s see what happens. True reality television.
Well it was obvious from the first five minutes that the show would not live up to its hype. Leaders were chosen for the town, not elected by the kids. The shows host, an adult, ran a competition that decided what jobs each kid would get. There was a magical book that “from the past” that gave the appointed council members scripted assignments. Basically it became a re-hash of the worn out Survivor series.
I would have loved to see what kids would do in a real situation. How would they choose their leaders? Would they even choose leaders at all, or opt for an egalitarian government? How would they divide work tasks? How would they punish offenses? This would have been gripping entertainment. Unfortunately, Kid Nation did not deliver.
D (the only reason it gets this high of a score is that it could have been good.

While I failed to watch the debut episode of this show, as long as it features copious amounts of children crying, which from what I hear it does, I feel obligated to give it an A+.

Cool site guys…
This seemed like watching summer camp on TV. I didn’t like camp when I was a kid, why would I want to watch this as an adult? Stupid idea but it made some money for somebody I guess.
PBS did something like this a few years ago with families living in pre-colonial days. That was kinda cool.
