Faithful readers of The Pest are aware of my long standing crusade to relinquish myself from the icy cold grip of my contract with the Deathstar, err I mean Verizon Wireless. I’m sure that all of the other major cell phone carriers have just as many reasons to hate them, but I’m not in an abusive relationship with them so I’ll let them off the hook for now.
Verizon is making the headlines again today with another round of bad PR. Aparently on average you can expect the customer service reps to quote you the wrong rate about 93% of the time. Don’t believe me? Watch the video after the jump.
The biggest problem seems to stem from the fact that the CSR’s don’t know the difference between a dollar and a cent. A lot of the time they are off by a factor of 100. Can you imagine getting a bill and being changed 100x more for something than you where told? Off course all of this is grounds for termination of your contract. From now on I think I’m going to start recording all of my conversations with these people on Skype so that I can do something like this in the future.

what you have to come to understand is that verizon is pretty much the ‘government’ version of a mobile svc provider. what i mean is, they’re very draconian in the way they do things. sure that sometimes means they’re more organized, but less ‘dynamic’. like the fact that they JUST decided (after every other company did first) to prorate cancellation fees, for example. i really can’t see how one stands to benefit from verizon, seeing as how they’re CDMA (pretty much US only unless you speak the language of the country you’re headed to with your US phone) and they’re pricey. and now that i know that their customer service sucks, well thats even worse. they have decent phones though, i will give them that.
