Nothing maddened me more, while watching the Democratic nominees debate Thursday night, then when the question of abortion was raised. Not necessarily because of what the candidate’s stance was on the issue, but because of the dodging and “politicianizing” that ensued.

Wolf Blitzer, the debate’s moderator, posed a simple question to all the candidates. He asked whether they would vote for a Supreme Court justice who did not support abortion. It was a simple question that a yes or no would have sufficed. He even pleaded for a yes or no response. He could not get one.

The answer each and every one of them gave was the same. They would not vote for such a justice if “they did not support the right to privacy,” as outlined in the 14th amendment. Could they not just answer the question? The right to privacy covers a lot more than abortion rights.

“The Right to Privacy” must be the Dem’s way to avoid offending those precious Republican voters they need on their side. I’m sure the Republican candidates will come up with ways to twist some questions they’re asked too. But am I alone in calling this bullshit for what it is? Why can’t voters get a straight answer? Hillary was accused by her fellow nominees for avoiding issues and “flip-flopping”, but on the same night each candidate did the same thing! Call a spade a spade and stop politicianizing us! Take a stance on the issue. Let the voters get a chance to vote for those who hold the same beliefs as themselves.

It’s time for a change in this country, I think all American’s would agree. But just like “Manny being Manny” is a popular catch phrase for the Red Sox’ Manny Ramirez, “Politicians being Politicians” is what we’ve come to expect. Well that is bullshit too!

Oh, and a little caveat. . . Those who voted for the Patriot Act (HR 3162), a huge step backward for “The Right to Privacy”.

Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Yea

Senator John Edwards (D-NC), Yea

Senator Joe Biden (D-DE), Yea

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), Yea

(*Sen. Barack Obama was not a member of the Senate in 2001)

Nice job guys! You really care about our right to privacy.

Only you can stop hypocritical politicianizing! Vote on their records, since we won’t be able to get straight answers to questions once again this election season.
