The results of the most recent Pest Poll are in and readers have chosen that “Home” is the best place for our US military presence to be right now. “Home” received an overwhelming 62% of all votes, handily beating out “Darfur” (12%), “Afghanistan” (9%), Iran (8%), “Iraq” (5%), and “Korea” (4%).

“We are definitely spreading ourselves too thin,” one reader commented. “What’s going to happen if we ever have a major crisis on our hands? We will have forces out all over the globe and possibly not enough resources to defend our own borders.”

Another reader wrote, “We should go back to George Washington’s plan of only using the military for self-defense. I’m tired of our nation being the world’s police.”

“It’s just another shitty Vietnam scenario, we’re trying to unite a bunch of tribes (In Iraq) that can’t even get a long with each other, they can’t even comprehend what democracy is, they need a dictator” wrote a concerned PEST reader.

It seems this issue strikes a nerve in our nation no matter your political affiliation. American’s just want their sons and daughter’s home. Here at the Pest we proudly tip our caps to all our folks around the world who have been charged with protecting our freedom, and sincerely wish they will be home with us soon.
