Happy New Years! As per usual, I’ve been tracking all of the important stories in the news. The big surpise thus far is that beer has had a great new year. In the past week or so all kinds of bizzare and great news has been coming out about beer.
Stories ranging from the police stealing beer from the fire department to a new tabletop beer dispensing machine for home. While technically not new, the beer brewing Bender (of Futurama fame) was news to me.
In other news, both MADD and the Modern Drunkard Magazine are presumably both eagerly awaiting GM’s self driving cars set to roll off production lines in less than a decade, a technology promising to drastically reduce the incidence of drinking and driving.
If you’re an investor and a beer enthusiast, I’ve got more great news! A beer that will always hold a special place in my heart, and the national beer of The Philippines, San Miguel, is set to go public this year. SMBI is the symbol for those so inclined.
Finally on a somber and personal note, in an effort to finally find that six pack I’ve been hiding all these years and as part of my new year’s resolution, I’ll be abstaining from the glorious golden nectar for the first two months of the ‘08. Wish me good luck. I’ll probably need it.
